Mountain Lion running slow on Macbook | Fix Slow Mountain Lion

How to optimize and fix slow Mountain Lion on Macbook pro ? An upgrade to Mountain Lion make my Macbook slow. Many Macbook pro users have experienced issue of slow Mountain Lion. After they upgraded to Mac OS X 10.8, they felt that their Macbook started crawling.

In the same way, another user reports while using a Late 2010 MacBook Air that his Mac became super fast when switched to Lion with 10-12 seconds of boot time and 3 seconds of shut down time. But, after he switched to Mountain Lion the time taken to both start and shut down, went very high.

Fix Slow mountain lion (OS X 10.8)

1. Here are some tips to speed up Mac OS X Mountain lion by Resetting PRAM and NVRAM

  • Shut down your Mac.
  • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: ++P+R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  • Start your machine.
  • Press and hold the ++P+R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
  • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  • Release the keys.
2. Increase memory of your Mac: Technically, the OS needs 2GB of RAM but to rum heavy applications you need to enhance memory.

3. Maintain free space on drive: Users should know that while running a program, the OS also uses the resources (space) on boot drive. So, we should keep an adequate amount of free space on Mac hard drive. For the task of cleaning Mac drive, one could either go in a manual way or select a tool for it.
