How to speed up my Macbook games | Mountain Lion Games so slow

Why games are so slow in my Macbook. The Mac games are running slow after updating Mac OS X to Mountain Lion OS X10.8. Are you also seeking the solution of this problem ? Here we are discussing the causes and fixes of this issue.

There are many Macbook users, like me, who spend most of their time with their Macbook and that too playing latest games on it. I am a true player and love downloading latest games. Please mind that I am a true software developer also. I have enjoyed my Macbook features to their peak and never had any complaint in last 7 months. But, my leisure was beaten very badly after I updated my OS X to Mountain Lion.

My Macbook started running like a snail. First I tried to resolve the issue myself but, it didn't happen. Then I went to my friend, little smarter than me, to see if he had any suggestion. He first checked my system configuration and compared it with those required for Mac OS X 10.8.

My current configuration
  • OS X v10.7
  • 2GB of memory
  • 10 GB of free space

Requirements for Mountain Lion
  • OS X v10.6.8 or later
  • 2GB of memory
  • 8GB of available space
So, it was quite clear that memory was of course optimum for Mountain Lion but the problem was caused due to lack of free memory. He suggested me to delete some items like duplicate files , universal binaries, language files and cache from hard drive.

Although the task could have done manually but it would have consumed too much time. So, he suggested me to go for Stellar Speed Up Mac for an automatic cleanup process. The tool can be scheduled to free memory at desired intervals.

So, I first downloaded the trial version which shown me the amount of space to be gained after a complete scan. The best part of this tool is the interface and efficiency. Its so cool. Now, once again I am back in my world of games with a new weapon called Stellar Speed Up Mac.

How to Remove Duplicate Photos in MacBook

Removing duplicate photos is a matter of great concern among computer users. We store photos of ceremonies, festivals, tours etc. in our Macbooks. It is done through the use of websites, digital cameras, or emails. In the process of storing these photos, we create copies of them, either knowingly or accidentally. This consumes extra memory in our drives because multiple copies of the same photos may vary in size, file type and other features. With all these wastage of space in drive, the situation rises with drastic slow down in speed.

Before removing the issue and deleting duplicate files, you need to know how the problem is caused. One of the major reasons behind creation of duplicate files is when we store photos from digital camera to Macbook, we forget to delete them from the camera and start taking more pictures, thus uploading them on to the computer more than once. Another reason of duplicating photos is making copies with names, changing the format the image is saved in, and downloading and installing various software.

In Macbook, these duplicate photos can be removed either manually or with Stellar Speed Up Mac - a drive cleaning application for Mac. With this easy to use Mac utility one can spot and remove duplicate files in just few clicks. The user is free to set the programs preference and do the job in desired manner. One can easily check the details of this Mac cleaning tool at http://www.stellarspeedupmac.com/

Speed Up Sluggish Mac with few free tips

Mac Machines also have tendency to become slower with the passage of time. Thanks to those easy and effective technical suggestions from experts. Also, there are many tech videos available demonstrating step-by-step method to get rid of slow and sluggish Mac. Here we are mentioning the synopsis of such tech tips:
  1. Maintain at least 20% on your disk drive free. All applications you run on your machine, require some RAM when starting up and running. The more the number of applications you run simultaneously, the more space is required. If there is lack of sufficient space for the programs, then it may lead to a sluggish Mac. So, experts suggest to maintain at least 20% of free space in drive.
  2. Delete useless eclutter your desktop. The Finder draws the icons that you see on your desktop and the process can take long time if your desktop if full of icons. To get out of this , you need to declutter your desktop. Get rid of the old files and folders that you don’t need and take the other files and aggregate them into a folder, helping to reduce the rendering workload on Finder.
  3. Have a look on permissions repair them using Disk Utility.
Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > [Select main Hard drive] > Repair Disk PermissionsUnforeseen events, like hard shutdowns, power outages, and crashes can cause the organizational directory corrupted, which can lead to slow performance. So, its a good idea to run the built-in OSX utility called “Disk Utility” to repair those corrupted permissions. It’s a time taking process and may take several hours to complete.
  4. Please limit the number of Login Items.
System Settings > Accounts > [Username] > Login Items
Some Mac users have a long list of start up items. These applications start with every startup. The list includes programs like update managers, Dropbox etc. These programs take too much resources and can even slow down the startup process. We don't use all of those programs consistently. Removing the unused programs from the Login Items reduces the amount of time it takes your computer to start up and should help speed up your performance.
  5. Analyse your widgets and remove the unwanted ones. Go to Dashboard > click the small “+” in the bottom left corner > click the “x” that appears in the top left corner of your currently active, unneeded widgetsWidgets are the small programs that run in the background to assist other programs. Although they do not consume too much of memory, but their closure may help OS X to avail some memory.

Speed up Mac OS X running very slow| Speed up sluggish Mac

How to speed up my Mac running at snail speed? This question has been asked at many Mac tech forums and has been answered by many experts too. With the evolving technology, Apple has also succeeded to limit the issue upto some extent.

The first thing I would like to address is regarding the hardware configuration of Mac machine. With every new launch of Mac OS X, Apple increases the system requirements for good reasons. Applications need memory very badly to perform complicated tasks. They consume more space. Unfortunately, memory and space on hard drive are often the culprit for Mac slowdown.

The Modern Macs are very powerful with an adequate amount of trouble handling utilities, but depending upon your usage, you may experience some performance issues. When we run too many applications simultaneously or leave it on for months or fill drive full of large graphics and video files, it drags down the Mac speed. Here we are discussing some tested and reliable tricks to Speed up Mac OS X.

2GB of memory is the minimum requirement you need for modern version of Mac OS X; however, if you push your Mac pretty hard, then you should consider upgrading your memory. The more you add, the lesser are the chances of experiencing performance issues.

Purging useless or unimportant files

Sometimes the slow behaviour is the cause of some troublesome file located in hard to find places. There are some easy ways to clear away some of these issue just by running through a few simple steps.

Resetting PRAM is one the first step that you can do to improve system performance and clear out potential issues. Resetting your PRAM frees cache on your logic board that can sometime be responsible for a sluggish system performance. To reset your PRAM: reboot your computer and immediately after your Mac has shutdown, hold down [Option] + [Command] + [P] + [R] together during the boot process. After a few moment your Mac will reboot again after which you can release those keys. You have now successfully reset your PRAM.

Booting Mac in safe mode

Starting your Mac in safe boot deletes cache in your hard drive. This process can take a bit more time than resetting your PRAM but is another way to purge some files that can sometimes cause performance issues. It can be done by holding down the [Shift] key during the boot process and enter Safe boot within the login pane.

Speedup your Mac with Mac Duplicate file remover

Have you got whacked-out seeing the persistent slow speed of your Mac? Have you made every possible effort to get your Mac system free of viruses and other malware programs that may be eating up your system resources and causing a major slowdown? If all of these efforts have gone in vain, then must try to scan your system for unwanted or duplicate files. Your system may be storing large amount of redundant data on the hard drive in the form of duplicate files. These files can significantly affect your system performance and make it relatively slower and sluggish.

Mac users are accustomed to creating multiple copies of their important files present in the system for backup purposes. These files take up considerable amount of space on the disk that may slow down the disk operations. Moreover, if you uninstall or reinstall applications on your computer, it may only add to the file clutter and increase the number of duplicate files. This is probably one of the most common reasons for depletion of space on your Mac hard drive.

This problem is generally accompanied by a plethora of issues. The applications installed in your system would take more time than usual to start up. You may also come across various problems while surfing the net and performing multiple tasks at a time. In order to get rid of these problems and accelerate your Mac system performance, you should first search and remove all the duplicate files from your system. To accomplish this, you can take help of third-party software available in the market. With the help of these tools, you can easily remove all the unwanted data and applications from your Mac system, including duplicate Files, caches, logs, large files, language files, universal binaries, widgets and plug-ins, etc. They enable you to create an identical image or clone of your Mac drive.

I recently purchased an excellent utility named ‘Stellar Drive Toolbox’. It is an all-in-one software that allows you to perform a variety of functions on your hard drive, such as drive initialization, cloning, surface scan, volume repair, drive defragmentation, etc. It has a simple procedure to remove all the duplicate files from your system at one go and efficiently kick up the Mac performance:

  • Run Stellar Drive Toolbox and choose ‘SpeedUp Mac’.
  • Click ‘Clean My Mac’ button. All the drives with the corresponding volumes appear in the left pane. Choose the desired volume to be cleaned.
  • Click ‘Continue’. The software will now start scanning the selected drive for all Duplicate Files, Large files, Universal Binaries, and Language files.
  • When the process is completed, a message box appears on the screen. Click ‘Show Scan Result’ to see the scan result or click ‘Clean Up’ to remove all the unwanted files from your system.
  • Now, click on ‘Proceed’ button to start the cleanup process.

Increase Mac speed | What to do for increasing my Mac Speed

How to improve Mac speed? Easy and cheap tips to increase Mac speed are some basic queries being asked by users of Mac having a sluggish machine. This idle behaviour of Mac machine can cause a great loss to a business. Here we are discussing causes and cures for sleeping nature of Mac.
It is always recommended to optimize the Mac to maintain its performance. Optimizing simply means taking care of actual resources available for processes. Freeing the resources from unnecessary accumulations on drive, is also a task of optimization.

Adding RAM is the best to way to avail resources for Mac programs but it may be an expensive option because the cost of memory devices has raised in last few months. So, it is recommended to opt for an alternate solution ie; maintaining free space in Mac drive.

How to maintain free space on Mac startup disk

While it needs Virtual Memory (VM), the OS X makes use of free disk space on your startup disk, also known as boot volume. If there is no or little amount of free space on startup disk, you will find a considerable fall in performance speed.

The Mac disk cleaning tools can a great rescue for getting out of this headache causing situation.
The list of Mac speeding tips includes following clues.
  • Make your little simple by minimizing the items
    1. Open System Preferences > Dock.
    2. Select Scale Effect in the Minimize Using field.
    3. Deselect the Animate Opening Applications option.
  • Avoid the unnecessary animated desktop since it snatches resources from other processes and delays their performance.
  • Keep an eye on activity monitor, launched with Mac OS X Tiger, to see the amount of resources being used by running applications. Activity Monitor is located in the Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities folder.
  • Its a good idea to reclaim resources by closing nonessential widgets. To close a widget:
    1. Open Dashboard.
    2. Press and hold the Option key.
    3. Move the mouse pointer over a widget you wish to close. The widget's Close button (X) appears in the upper-left corner of the widget.
    4. Click the widget's Close button.
    5. Repeat steps 3-4 for other widgets you wish to close.

Clean Mac Lion memory | How to Free Up Memory in Mac OS X

Mac memory cleaner tool is a good option to free up memory and gain some space. Although the Mac OS X is smart enough to manage the memory resources on drive but sometimes its lacks in doing this. There may be a situation when RAM is held unnecessarily and slowing down the speed.

Just go to terminal and type “purge”. It will free up your RAM and get your resources back. This command cleans your cache at both disk and memory.

It is important to note that its not just your busy RAM which is responsible for a slow Mac but a low amount of free space in boot volume is equally accountable. Talking technically, when we run a large application or several applications altogether, the requirement of memory increases goes beyond the limit of RAM. In this situation, the OS also uses the free space available in boot volume.

So, a user should take care of maintaining adequate free space in drive else, it may crash your application and can also cause a data loss situation.

If slow speed is a continuous problem in your Mac then we recommend to use a Mac memory cleaner for drive. Stellar Speed Up Mac will be best selection for this task. It removes all sort of useless items like cache, duplicate files, universal binaries, unwanted language files, system logs etc.

Remove icons from the dock and clear up the amount of files you can see. Adopting these practices would help to minimize wastage of additional resources to load them upon starting your computer.

2. Have a look on number of startup Items

Some applications get automatically launched at when your machine boots up. This helps to save your time and doesn't need to remember the list every-time. Speed Up Mac Startup | How to Speed Up Slow Startup of Macbook

My Macbook starts very slowly. How to speed up startup process in Mac OSX . These are some very general queries from slow Macbook users.

With the passage of time, slow startup, becomes a general tendency in most computers as they usually get clogged up with too many ( sometimes unnecessary) applications. If this is the case with your machine also then this is the time to perform some simple checks to identify the exact cause and make sure it stays in tip-top condition.

Verify Mac disk with Disk Utility

Errors related to Mac disk can affect startup times of your Mac. The Disk Utility tool in Mac can check and fix errors encountered on Mac drive. One can use the tool as follows.
  1. Go to Disk Utility from Spotlight or Click Applications -> Utilities folder
  2. Select your Macintosh HD in the left hand column
  3. In the right hand window pane, click Verify Disk. Mac OS checks the volume for errors and displays a short report. Any problems can usually be fixed using the Repair Disk option
We Hope everything is in good condition and you don't get any disk error message.

Need to check system health

Your Mac is capable enough to take care of its own health, All you need to do is just run the process periodically because it helps to cure the issue in time. Follow the following steps to check your Mac health.

Apple keeps releasing regular fixes for common issues that might be related to a slow startup time. The user just needs to update his Mac and get these issues fixed automatically.

Remove Unwanted Startup Items

When a system boots many applications get launched automatically. These applications and daemons use system resources and thus are somehow responsible for slow Mac. Go to Macintosh HD/Library/StartupItems/ and stop unwanted startup items from the list.
This folder is usually hidden so the best way to view it is to use SHIFT + COMMAND + G from Finder and just type in the path above. Users can also improve startup time by removing problematic or unnecessary fonts that may be installed on your Mac.
  1. Open Font Book from the Applications folder or using Spotlight
  2. Highlight any extraneous or problematic fonts
  3. Right-click -> Remove <font> or Remove <font> Family

Use Automatic Login and Disable Reopen Windows

The Mac OS X has the default behaviour to show the last login screen which is just one more step in the process of booting. This delays the startup process and it is recommended to change the login sreen option with following steps:
  1. Open System Preferences and choose Users & Groups
  2. Click Login Options on the left hand side
  3. Choose the user account to automatically login from the drop-down box labelled Automatic login

Recover free space on Hard Disk

When there is very less space remained in boot volume, the startup tends to slow down significantly. Regaining free space on hard drive by removing unnecessary language files, universal binaries, caches, duplicate files and unused applications.

The task of cleaning Mac drive can be accomplished via some Mac cleanup tool.

Slow Mac due to incompatible software | Reasons of Slow Mountain Lion

What are the reasons of Slow Mountain Lion ? Can incompatible software slow down my Mac OS X. Many of the new Mountain Lion users are asking these questions after they switched from Lion to Mountain Lion. Here we are discussing- how to fix a Mac running slow ?

OS X Mountain Lion and the previous versions upto OS X 10.6 are developed to protect your Mac from certain incompatible software. These applications can cause severe issues in your machines and can quit unexpectedly.

When a user installs the Mac OS X while migrating from one to another, the known-incompatible software is automatically moved to a folder named "Incompatible Software".
The OS X doesn't allow these incompatible software to open. It prompts a message indicating “you can't use current version of the application”, and asks you to contact the vendor software's vendor or visit their website for a later, compatible version.

How to remove incompatible Mac software
